Boracay is een tropisch eiland op ongeveer een uur vliegen van Metro Manilla in de Filippijnen. Het heeft prachtige lange witte zandstranden, zo goed als waar dan ook, en is een van de meest ontwikkelde toeristische bestemmingen van het land.
Er zijn faciliteiten beschikbaar voor verschillende activiteitsniveaus. Faciliteiten voor de gebruikelijke watersportactiviteiten zoals zeilen, windsurfen, snorkelen, duiken en jetskiën zijn ook op grote schaal beschikbaar voor diegenen die op zoek zijn naar meer actieve bezigheden. Het plezier in Boracay stopt ook niet als de zon ondergaat. Het nachtleven van Boracay is bruisend met vele bars en restaurants die tot in de late avond eten, drinken en plezier serveren.
Boracay is een uitstekende keuze voor iedereen die een volledig scala aan faciliteiten op een uitstekende tropische locatie wil en ervoor kan betalen. Het is echter geen goede gok voor koopjesjagers; prijzen zijn relatief hoog volgens Filipijnse normen, hoewel gematigd volgens Japanse of westerse normen en lager dan op veel plaatsen in de mediterraan, Caraïben of Stille Zuidzee.
Sinds de heropening in oktober 2018 zijn er nieuwe regels en voorschriften en een limiet voor het aantal toeristen dat op het eiland is toegestaan. U moet vooraf een hotel hebben geboekt voordat u op de boot naar Boracay kunt stappen. Er wordt niet gegeten of gedronken op het strand, er wordt niet gerookt, er wordt niet gedanst en er zijn geen commerciële zandkastelen. Bovendien zijn er geen stoelen, ligstoelen of parasols toegestaan op het strand, dus denk goed na of je het strand bezoekt als je gehandicapt, ouder bent of gewoon direct zonlicht wilt vermijden en op het strand wilt zitten. Wees voorbereid op het aanbieden van een massage, boottocht, parasailing, kitesurfen, zeilboot varen, haarvlechten, eilandhoppen en henna-tatoeage om de 20 stappen op het "stoeppad" van het strand.
Begrijpen
Oriëntatie
Er zijn tientallen stranden op het eiland, en White Beach, de langste en de meest populaire, waar al het leven doorgaat, beslaat ongeveer het hele westelijke deel van het eiland. Aan de andere kant van het eiland (oost) is er een belangrijk kitesurfstrand - Bulabog. Andere stranden zijn veel kleiner en rustig. Alle delen van Boracay zijn met elkaar verbonden met behulp van de hoofdweg van Boracay die van zuid naar noord door het hele eiland loopt.
White Beach is enkele kilometers lang en is dus verdeeld in drie delen (van zuid naar noord): Station 1, Station 2, Station 3.
Klimaat
Tijdens het droge seizoen (november-april; de noordoostelijke moesson of amihan waait van december tot maart), is White Beach rustig en zeer geschikt om te zwemmen, enz. De andere kant van het eiland heeft grote wind en golven waardoor het geschikt is voor windsurfen, golflopen, enz. Tijdens het regenseizoen (juni-oktober ), toen de zuidwestmoesson (habagat) klappen, is dit omgekeerd, met kans op tyfoons. White Beach krijgt vaak veel wind en golven waardoor het soms ongeschikt is om te zwemmen. Actuele weersomstandigheden zijn te vinden online.
Stap in
Of u nu met het vliegtuig of per boot gaat, de toegangspoort tot Boracay Island is het kleine stadje Caticlan op het vasteland. Stempelboten (bancaa) vertrek om de paar minuten van 1 De aanlegsteiger van Caticlan. De korte boottocht naar 2 Boracay's aanlegsteiger in Cagban kosten ₱25. Er zijn twee aanlegsteigers in Caticlan (Caticlan en Tabon) en twee aanlegsteigers op Boracay (Cagban en Tambisaan). Vanwege de wind in september (of de maanden in het laagseizoen), wordt de aanlegsteiger die het verst van de luchthaven ligt (Tabon) gebruikt om u naar de haven van Tambisaan te brengen. Toeristen moeten een eindvergoeding betalen van ₱100 en een milieuheffing van ₱75. Bij Cagban zijn driewielers beschikbaar om passagiers naar hun hotels te brengen. Driewieler tarief is vanaf ₱20 per persoon tot ₱150 per reis, afhankelijk van waar uw resort is.
Met het vliegtuig
Er zijn twee luchthavens die Boracay bedienen.
3 Caticlan of Godofredo P. Ramos Airport (MPH IATA), ☏ 63 36 288 7111. Veel kleinere en dichterbij gelegen luchthaven, op slechts een paar kilometer afstand van Caticlan Jetty Port en Tabon Port. Het behandelt nu jetvluchten naar manilla beheerd door Filipijnse luchtvaartmaatschappijen en Cebu Pacific, evenals turbopropvliegtuigen uit Cebu, geëxploiteerd door Cebgo, PAL Express en SkyJet. De luchtvaartmaatschappij zet je af aan de oostkant van de luchthaven. Nadat u de luchthaven aan de oostkant hebt verlaten, vindt u de driewielerstalling aan de overkant van de straat, langs de verschillende resortaanbiedingen. Een driewieler van het vliegveld naar de aanlegsteiger van Tabon is ₱50 per persoon.
Vervoer over land. Vanaf de luchthaven Caticlan kunt u ofwel een driewieler nemen (₱50) of loop (10 minuten) naar Caticlan Jetty Port. Trouwens, Cebu Pacific biedt hoteltransfers voor ₱350 per persoon.
4 Internationale luchthaven Kalibo (KLO IATA), 2 km afstand van Kalibo en 70 km van Caticlan Jetty, ☏ 63 36 262 3264. Deze luchthaven kan straalvliegtuigen zoals Boeing 737 en Airbus A320 aan, maar ligt veel verder van Boracay dan de luchthaven van Caticlan. De internationale bestemmingen omvatten: Peking, Busan, Hongkong, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Singapore, Shanghai en Seoel, geëxploiteerd door Cebu Pacific, China Airlines, Filippijnse luchtvaartmaatschappijen en AirAsia. Binnenlandse vluchten zijn van beide Cebu en manilla. Er is een ₱200 terminalkosten voor binnenlandse vluchten en ₱700 voor internationaal (2016).
Vervoer over land. Er zijn busjes, minibus-shuttles en bussen die reizigers bedienen tussen Kalibo International Airport en Caticlan Jetty Port. Een busje en veerboot duurt 1½-2 uur en kost ₱250, en ₱300 voor een AC-bus. Daarnaast wordt u gevraagd om milieuheffingen en eindheffingen te betalen van ₱175 bovenop het tarief. Bovendien biedt AirAsia hoteltransfers aan voor: ₱520 per persoon.
Per boot
Veerboot van Batangas Stad naar de haven van Caticlan. Uitgevoerd door 2GO reizen. Vertrekt om 21.00 uur in de haven van Batangas en komt om 06.00 uur in de haven van Caticlan aan. Vertrekt om 8.00 uur in de haven van Caticlan en komt om 18.00 uur in de haven van Batangas aan. Enkele reis vanaf ₱995.
Veerboot van Batangas Stad haven naar Caticlan-haven. Een andere optie is om uw reis te beginnen met Philtranco-, Alps-, Dimple-, Ceres- of Rodastco-bussen die de hele dag met regelmatige tussenpozen vertrekken vanuit Cubao en de route Manilla-Caticlan bedienen voor ₱1200. Hoe uitdagender doe het zelf versie gaat als volgt: De gemakkelijkste manier zou zijn om een rechtstreekse reis te boeken waarmee u slechts één kaartje kunt kopen van de Cubao-terminal naar de haven van Caticlan. De kosten zijn ₱1000-1200. Maar als je echt geld wilt besparen, kun je ook pendelen vanaf het busstation van Cubao (in de buurt van Alimall). Er is echt geen verschil, behalve dat je bij elke halte kaartjes moet kopen. Cubao-Batangas: vertrek het beste tussen 19.00-20.00 uur, zodat je voor 22.00 uur in de haven van Batangas aankomt. Batangas-Calapan: de reis duurt 2 uur per vrachtschip of een uur tot anderhalf uur via supercat. Koop geen kaartjes voor het busje van Calapan naar Roxas, want dit kan oplichterij zijn of u wordt samen met verschillende andere passagiers met kaartjes in een busje geperst. Calapan-Roxas: duurt ongeveer 4 uur. Zorg ervoor dat je vroeg vertrekt, zodat je voor 4 uur 's ochtends aankomt. Over de weg en per veerboot (RoRo)
De "Nautical Highway" is een combinatie van snelwegen over land en roll-on, roll-off (RoRo) schepen waarmee u uw voertuig tot Panay Eiland en bezoek belangrijke steden zoals Kalibo. Met de auto helemaal naar Boracay rijden is echter niet mogelijk. Het openbaar vervoer rijdt ook op dezelfde route en is de meest kosteneffectieve manier om tussen Manilla en Boracay te reizen. Uitgaande van goede verbindingen is de totale reistijd ongeveer 12 uur.
De eenvoudigste manier om dit te regelen is door een busje in Manilla te boeken door contact op te nemen met particuliere operators zoals Angel Star (63 2 783-0886 c/o Abner) en Gope (63 2 732-6891 c/o Cesar). Hiermee kunt u een rechtstreekse reis boeken van Metro Manilla naar Caticlan ten koste van ₱1200, min of meer. Hun groep exploiteert verschillende personenbusjes die 10-14 of 15-18 personen kunnen laden. Je boekt de reis exclusief of deelt met medereizigers. Het busje vertrekt dagelijks om 21.00 uur vanuit Manilla, via Batangas-Calapan-Roxas (komt om 5 uur of 6 uur aan in Roxas) om de veerboot/boot van 8 uur of 10 uur te nemen naar Caticlan, waar je tussen 12.00 en 14.00 uur wordt verwacht. Voordat je echter naar Boracay Island gaat, moet je ervoor zorgen dat je je retourticket (Roxas-Manila) bij de Caticlan Ferry Terminal haalt (informeer naar de bijgewerkte dienstregeling bij het personeel van de busexploitanten). Neem een vroeg diner voordat u aan boord gaat van het busje en neem water en iets te eten mee op doorreis. Als u met een busje rijdt, gaat u naar Caticlan in een meer ontspannen tempo, omdat u niet op veel subbestemmingen hoeft te stoppen, wat uw reis verlengt en daarom echt vermoeiend kan zijn.
Rondkomen
- De meeste bezoekers kiezen voor gemotoriseerd driewielers, die fungeren als de taxi's van het eiland en het grootste deel van het verkeer uitmaken. Ritten zijn goedkoop, meestal niet meer dan ₱100 voor individuele (per driewieler, niet gedeeld met andere mensen) rit naar elk punt op het eiland, en is bijna overal langs de hoofdweg te vinden. Omdat de driewielerstoelen zich direct boven de uitlaten van het voertuig bevinden, kan er echter een beetje vervuiling zijn - neem een zakdoek mee als je snel last hebt van dit soort dingen.
- Van de haven van Cagban naar Station 1, het meeste dat u moet betalen is ₱25 per hoofd. Tenminste, als je het niet erg vindt om de driewieler met andere toeristen te delen. Als u de driewieler niet wilt huren en de chauffeur onderweg andere passagiers wilt laten ophalen, zeg dan dat u alleen de "Individuele" prijs wilt en niet "Special".
- Korte ritten op drukke routes, bijvoorbeeld van D'Mall naar Station 3 of van Station 1 naar Station 3, zijn een standaardtarief van ₱20 per passagier, maar verwacht dat de driewielerbestuurder vraagt om ₱40 of meer als je eruitziet als een buitenlander. Lange ritten, zoals het strand van Puka naar D'Mall, zouden ongeveer moeten kosten ₱40. Chauffeurs die wachten in de buurt van stranden, hotels, enz., vragen over het algemeen een hogere prijs zoals ₱150-200, ook als je alleen bent. Het kan de moeite waard zijn onderhandelen als er een paar mensen bij je zijn en je wilt een individuele rit - anders kun je beter een passerende driewieler op de hoofdweg pakken.
Van de aanlegsteiger van Tambisaan tot Station 2 D'Mall is het maximale dat u moet betalen ₱20 per persoon op de zonnebus.
- Scooters bieden de beste flexibiliteit tegen een redelijke prijs. Het nadeel is dat je te maken hebt met eilandverkeer, wat zenuwslopend kan zijn voor bezoekers die niet gewend zijn aan de agressieve driewielerbestuurders. Prijzen zijn exorbitant, vanaf ₱1200 per dag huur (2016).
- mountainbikes zijn ook te huur op verschillende locaties langs White Beach, dat verboden terrein is voor gemotoriseerde voertuigen.
- Huur een inboorling om het eiland te verkennen zeilboot (paraw) of gemotoriseerd stempel (banca) en bezoek de vele stranden van Boracay.
Zien
- 1 Wit strand. Dit is waar de meeste mensen hier voor zijn, maar er zijn milieuregels en het strand is een uitdaging voor mensen met een handicap. Het is een prachtig stuk poederachtig wit zand tegen azuurblauw water, het is ook het commerciële centrum van het eiland. Het lange strand is verdeeld in drie secties, Station 1, Station 2 en Station 3. Station 1 is het meest noordelijke en heeft het breedste strand, waar eersteklas hotels en resorts zijn gevestigd. Accommodaties zijn duurder, maar kwaliteit is over het algemeen ook het beste. Station 2 is het commerciële en geografische centrum van het witte strand. Dit is het centrum van alles om te winkelen, eten, feesten en dergelijke. Dat gezegd hebbende, het strand is hier ook het drukst en het gebied het meest luidruchtig. Station 3 is het meest zuidelijke deel; stiller dan station 2, het is het minst ontwikkeld en ook het laagst geprijsd. Heel White Beach, van het noordelijkste puntje van Station 1 tot het meest zuidelijke van Station 3 (~4 km) is open voor het publiek, dus je kunt ontspannen en/of zwemmen waar je maar wilt, ongeacht de locatie van het hotel.
In elk station patrouilleren twee strandwachten te voet, uitgerust met een fluitje, een reddingsboei en een draagbare radio. Het bootstation 2 is het reddings- en reddingscommandocentrum.
- 2 Puka-strand. Puka Beach, een rustig stuk wit zand langs de noordpunt van het eiland, is een beeld van wat de meeste mensen verwachten op een tropisch eiland: wit zand, azuurblauw water en relatief leeg. Dit is waar de lokale bevolking de kleine puka-schelpen verzamelt voor een deel van de sieraden die op het eiland worden verkocht, dus verwacht dat het zand grover is dan op White Beach. Het water is meestal wat ruwer aan deze kant van het eiland, maar het is er veel rustiger. Evenzo zijn er minder diensten - er zijn maar een paar restaurants, maar u zult waarschijnlijk geen probleem hebben om een koud drankje of een ijsje te krijgen, aangezien er een paar verkopers zijn die op het strand patrouilleren. De hoofdweg in Boracay eindigt bij Puka Beach, daarom kun je een driewieler huren om er te komen in minder dan 10-15 minuten vanaf het centrum van White Beach. Zorg ervoor dat je een pick-up regelt als het een rustige dag is en er geen driewielers rond het strand hangen. De meeste mensen ervaren Puka als een van hun zeilboot- of banca-stops tijdens een dagtocht. Dit is een goede plek voor een picknick, maar neem zeker je afval mee naar huis.
- 3 Het strand van Baling Hai. Dit is een rustige kleine baai net ten noorden van Diniwid Beach, waar u kunt zwemmen, snorkelen en dineren in een ontspannen, vredige omgeving. Er zijn een aantal fantastische uitzichten vanaf het restaurant op de klif. Baling Hai wordt vaak opgenomen als tussenstop tijdens een boottocht op het eiland.
- 4 Bulabog-strand. Kom daar op winderige dagen om kiteboarders hoge sprongen en gekke trucs te zien doen.
- De vleermuisgrot. Je zult in verschillende gidsen en kaarten van Boracay iets zien dat de vleermuisgrot wordt genoemd, waar veel kleine insectenetende vleermuizen wonen (de grotere fruitvleermuizen nestelen in de bomen op de heuvel boven het strand van Punta Bunga), en de lokale bevolking zal je graag begeleiden u daar voor een vergoeding, of "fooi". De grot ligt aan de westkant van het eiland en langs verschillende onverharde wegen. De gids neemt je vervolgens mee op een korte wandeling door het bos naar de monding van een grot, die onder een zeer steile hoek naar beneden valt. De monding van de grot is bezaaid met grote rotsblokken en het is buitengewoon moeilijk om binnen te komen en naar beneden te lopen. Er is geen zichtbaar pad, geen leuning, en de stenen zijn extreem glad met slijm en vleermuis guano, maar ook extreem gevaarlijk, omdat de grot in zo'n extreme hoek ligt. Ook is de lucht in de grot erg warm en vochtig, en naast de hoeveelheid guano, is het erg moeilijk om te ademen. Bovendien leven er verschillende slangen in de grot. Voorzichtigheid is geboden door degenen die de grot bezoeken en betreden. Er zijn vleermuizen in de grot, maar onderaan in het donker, en tenzij je een zaklamp hebt of in de schemering bent, zul je ze niet zien. Het plafond van de grot is echter interessant met meerdere, kleine stalactieten. Vlakbij vind je nog een grot, de zogenaamde "kristalgrot" met veel stalactieten en een gat aan de andere kant van de ingang, van waaruit je naar de zee kunt kijken als je ernaartoe durft te klimmen. U zult moeten betalen ₱50 toegangsprijs om beide grotten te bezoeken voor de familie die het land bezit, naast het betalen van je gids. Het bezoeken van beide grotten kan tot ₱2500 voor de gids, maar dit is de "rijke toeristenprijs", dus probeer te onderhandelen als je wilt.
Doen
Duiken
Voor wie geïnteresseerd is in duiken, er zijn letterlijk tientallen duikcentra langs White Beach; het is een goede plek om te leren of om je vaardigheden te verbeteren. De kosten zijn meestal: ₱1600 per duik voor gecertificeerde duikers inclusief huur van alle uitrusting. De duikcentra, onder de Boracay Business Administration of Scuba Schools (BBASS), zijn onderling standaardprijzen overeengekomen, dus de prijzen zullen in alle centra hetzelfde zijn. Dit is om ervoor te zorgen dat duikcentra zich kunnen concentreren op kwaliteit en duikveiligheid in plaats van op prijzenoorlogen. Er zijn 25-30 duikplekken binnen 10-20 minuten varen van het strand, geschikt voor beginners tot gevorderden. Duiken variëren van 'Angol Point' (10 m), via 'Crocodile Island' (22-25 m), een eenvoudige wandduik, tot 'Yapak' - een diepe wandduik die alleen geschikt is voor de meest ervaren duikers vanwege de sterke stroming, hoewel er is de mogelijkheid om haaien en pijlstaartroggen te zien.
Boottochten
De beste manier om de schoonheid van Boracay en zijn verschillende stranden te zien, is per Paraw (inheemse outrigger-zeilboot). Er wordt constant gevraagd of je een boottocht wilt maken, er zijn namelijk letterlijk tientallen bedrijven die deze service aanbieden. Het is beter om met een gerenommeerde en gevestigde groep te gaan, zoals Allen Fun Tours (gemotoriseerde banca-boottochten) of Red Pirates (paraw-zeilen) om uw veiligheid te garanderen en te voorkomen dat u te veel betaalt.
Kiteboarden
Het Bulabog-strand van Boracay beweert de beste kitesurfbestemming in Azië te zijn. Het seizoen loopt van november tot april met landwinden variërend tussen 12-30 knopen. Een kleine lagune (2 km breed) wordt beschermd tegen golven door een koraalrif. Het water wordt bij eb bijna vlak, waardoor het gemakkelijk is om te beginnen met kitesurfen en door te gaan met freestyle tricks. Vanwege de mooie omstandigheden wordt de plek in het hoogseizoen overvol met ruiters. Een ernstig nadeel is de rioolvervuiling van de lagune, dus geur van water en infecties door zelfs kleine verwondingen komen vaak voor.

Skimboarden
Skimboarden in Boracay is al enkele jaren een nieuwe leuke sport voor kinderen en entertainment voor ouderen voor mensen. Het is een welkome nieuwe attractie en een genot om naar te kijken. Op verschillende plaatsen langs White Beach zijn skimboards te huur. Maar zorg ervoor dat u een expert inhuurt om u de vaardigheden bij te brengen; een les van een uur van een lokale rijder is meestal rond ₱300.
Massage en spa
Begroting
- Langs White Beach wordt u regelmatig benaderd door vrouwen die u aanbieden om u een massage te geven, die ze ter plaatse of op een op het strand neergelegde handdoek zullen doen - naar keuze.
- Een beetje meer georganiseerd, White Beach heeft ook verschillende "Massage Stations": verzamelingen masseurs die hun matten hebben opgesteld. De stations zijn normaal gesproken open zolang er klanten in de buurt zijn, maar worden over het algemeen pas na zonsondergang gesloten.

Middenbereik
- Bella Isa Salon & Spa. Een klein plekje op het strand in Station 3 met een luxe inrichting en professioneel personeel. Ze bieden een volledig scala aan diensten, waaronder massages, gezichtsbehandelingen, voetspa's en haardiensten.
- Er zijn verschillende kleinere/middelgrote spa's in Boracay die een menu aanbieden met massages, scrubs en gezichtsbehandelingen, maar niet helemaal over de faciliteiten beschikken om als een volledige spa te worden beschouwd. De meeste hotels in Boracay bieden een beperkt spamenu dat in deze categorie valt.
Uitspatting
- Caesar's, te vinden langs de hoofdweg bij bootstation 3, is gespecialiseerd in Thaise massage en gebruikt twee masseurs tegelijkertijd om de service te verlenen. Een massage van 90 minuten kost US $ 50.

- Ariel's punt. Ariel's Point is een betaalbare eco-avontuurlijke bestemming voor Boracay-reizigers die de natuurlijke pracht van de Filippijnen willen ervaren en medereizigers willen ontmoeten. - Motorrijden. Het is de moeite waard om motorfietsen of scooters te huren om het eiland te verkennen, want er zijn andere prachtige stranden aan de andere kant van het eiland die nog beter zijn om te snorkelen en die volledig verlaten zullen zijn. Huur ze voor een paar dagen en je zou korting moeten krijgen. De wegen zijn een beetje onbetrouwbaar, en sommige worden nog steeds aangelegd, maar het is een goede lach en beter dan jezelf op een stuk wit zand te plonzen en niets te zien.
- Paardrijden. Paardrijden is een leuke activiteit in Boracay. Ga buiten de gebaande paden en ervaar dorpen en landschappen die de meeste andere bezoekers niet te zien krijgen. Alle ervaringsniveaus komen aan bod. Vraag een driewieler om je naar de Boracay Horse Riding Stables te brengen.
Kopen
Langs White Beach, vooral rond Station 2, is er een grote verscheidenheid aan cadeauwinkels en boetieks langs het strandpad. Naast de overvolle kraampjes die je in Azië verwacht, heeft Boracay ook verschillende high-end winkels met kleding, kunst en huishoudelijke artikelen. Op sommige plaatsen kun je afdingen, anderen hebben een vast prijssysteem met prijskaartjes. Kijk rond, want de prijzen variëren. Buiten White Beach wordt het winkelen schaars of niet-bestaand. D'Mall op Station 2 en D'Talipapa op Station 3, tussen de hoofdweg en White Beach, hebben veel winkels. D'Mall is groter, maar D'Talipapa heeft een aantal winkels, groentehandelaren en een grote vleesmarkt die ook een grote selectie levende zeevruchten verkoopt. De prijzen bij D'Talipapa (inclusief die voor basisbehoeften zoals melk, groenten en vlees) liggen ongeveer 25% onder die van D'Mall.
Al wandelend of liggend op het zand, overal op Boracay, wordt u benaderd om een verscheidenheid aan artikelen te kopen, waaronder sieraden gemaakt van schelpen, vers fruit, ijs, zonnebrillen of een lekkere massage.

Er zijn ongeveer 10 geldautomaten van de volgende banken: PNB, Metrobank, BPI en RCBC, op het hele eiland voor de 16.000 inwoners plus toeristen, en als ze geen geld meer hebben, worden ze pas de volgende werkdag bijgevuld. In het weekend en op feestdagen kunnen geldautomaten meerdere dagen meegaan zonder bijgevuld te worden. Bijna allemaal accepteren ze Visa-, MasterCard- en UnionPay-kaarten. Maximaal één keer opnemen is ₱10000 met verplichte toeslag voor buitenlandse kaarten van ₱250.
Veel etablissementen, inclusief de driewielers, kunnen een rekening niet breken ₱500, dus het loont om altijd kleine rekeningen te hebben.
Buitenlands geld (Amerikaanse dollars, Britse ponden, euro's, Koreaanse won, Japanse yen, enz.) kan op verschillende locaties op het eiland worden ingewisseld. - Restaurant en hotel met uitzicht op de zonsondergang, in de buurt van Station 3, serveert een snackbuffet van 15.00-17.00 uur (soep, ham en kaasschuivers, gebakken vis, pasta, gehaktballen, pancit en bitterkoekjes) voor ₱ 189 per persoon in een ontspannen omgeving aan het strand.

- 4 D'Talipapa-markt. Verse vismarkt met relatief goedkope prijzen. Rondom de plaats zijn verschillende voedselwinkels die aanbieden om voor u te koken. U kunt in de buurt van de winkels verse zeevruchten, enz. kopen, en deze vervolgens voor u laten koken zoals u dat wilt. - 6 Rook, in een van de steegjes tegenover het café Lemon in D'Mall. Een zeer goed budgetrestaurant. Lokale gerechten, vlees- en visgerechten, omeletten en uitstekende sandwiches worden aangeboden. De meeste maaltijden kosten rond ₱120 en zijn allemaal vers gekookt. Als je tussen 11.00 en 14.00 uur in de buurt bent, krijg je bij elke rijstmaaltijd een gratis drankje iced lemon tea. ₱120-180.

- 8 Echt eten, Station 2. 11 AM–middernacht. Biedt vurige Indiase gerechten die de smaakpapillen zullen doen ontwaken. De plaats is gezellig met stromatten en extra grote kussens. Het personeel is beleefd en erg meegaand. Voor degenen die van de pittigere kant van het leven houden, probeer de tandoori-kip. Hoofdgerechten van ₱250.
- 9 The Sunny Side Cafe Restaurant. Goede plek om te ontbijten. Zeer hoge beoordelingen op beoordelingssites. Pannenkoeken rond ₱300.
- 10 [dode link]Citroen Café, D' Mall. Deze plaats serveert een verscheidenheid aan ontbijten, lunches en lichte maaltijden. De service en presentatie is uitstekend. Taarten ₱30-160.
- 11 Dos Mestiezen. 10:00-middernacht. Dit restaurant is het geesteskind van de gerespecteerde chef-kok en restaurateur Binggoy Remedios uit Boracay en zijn goede jeugdvriend, Jose Ramon Valdes Nieto. Beide eigenaren hebben Spaanse voorouders, vandaar de naam "Dos Mestizos". Dit restaurant serveert een selectie uitstekende tapas en is gelegen tussen de stations 2 en 3, achter het Tourist Center. Naast het belangrijkste plein aan de D'Mall Phase IV is een deli in Europese stijl met airconditioning die allerlei soorten delicatessen verkoopt, zoals kazen, vleeswaren, salami, yoghurt, wijnen, enz. Plaatselijk beroemd om redelijk geprijsde sandwiches, andere dingen is meestal duur.

- 24 Titos (Resto & Grill), station 2. Serveer moderne Filippijnse gerechten die het informele comfort van een huisgemaakte maaltijd combineren met de ontspannen verfijning van lekker eten. Owned by the infamous and eccentric Frenchman Roger Deparis who has lived on the island since his backpacking days, it is a throwback to the old island style of mismatched decorations and heavy foliage.

- 27 Cyma, in the new part of the D'mall. Excellent food and service at this Greek restaurant. Try the mezedes combination, the spinach and artichoke fondue and the chicken souvlaki. Mezes ₱180-250, gyros ₱330-400, mains from ₱600.
Coffeeshops
- 28 Real Coffee, Station 2. 7AM-7PM, take away shop downstairs works till 9PM. Serves a variety of pancakes, sandwiches, omelettes, baked goods and salads as well as freshly brewed coffee. The mother-and-daughter owners also get repeat customers who have been going there for years. They are also famous for their lemon muffin cupcakes, which are very much in demand. Koffie ₱60-160, muffins & brownie cakes ₱40-70.
- 29 Starbucks, Station 1. 6:30AM-12:30AM. Of the coffee shops of this famous chain. On the other side, it's extremely small cafe without even places to seat. Coffee from ₱120.

Drinken
If you like to party, there are plenty of places to choose from. The livelier bars are situated near Stations 1 and 2. There are plenty of places to party all night! Station 3 has a more laid back and relaxed atmosphere, with small local bars and restaurants popular with backpackers.
- 1 Bom Bom Bar, near D 'Mall. A native-style beach bar that often has live music. It's a popular hang out for artists and musicians.
- 2 Charlie's Steakhouse & Diner Restaurant, Station 2 (Right in the middle of the beach). This bar is a long-time favorite on Boracay with live bands that play covers. Customers are invited to sing with the bands.
- 3 Cocoloco Beach Resort, near boat station 3. An attractive beach bar and restaurant that also serves tasty food. You can enjoy your drink by the beach, under the coconut trees, and there's a pool table in the bar too. Several years ago it started offering bungalows for rent as well.
- 4 Cocomangas, station 1. Famous for its "Still standing after 15" challenge. Drink 15 ferocious shots and win a t-shirt and a plaque on the wall. This bar is popular with the younger crowd but a few "working girls" are around for lonely men. Try the Jam Jar, a pineapple and vodka cocktail.
- Juice Bar, right between Boracay Regency and Boat Station 2. Offers top notch cocktails and a variety of "sneaky smoothies". with a wide open courtyard opening up to the beach it tends to fill up by around 11PM but still very comfortable. The crowd is a nice mix of locals and foreigners. Great staff and charming bartenders. There was a report in 2016 that it was closed.
- Bei Kurt und Magz Restaurant, station 3. Run by friendly Bavarian Kurt and his wife Mags. It's a very popular spot to meet and chat, and one of the few places on the island serving draft beer. Serve German and Filipino food.
- 5 Nigi Nigi Nu Noos, between boat stations 2 and 3, three minutes walk north of the tourist center. A popular, centrally located spot to have a cool drink and enjoy a little people-watching. The manager is an expat. It is a hotel as well.
- 6 Red Pirates Pub. A native style beach bar (Angol, near boat station 3) with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and good selection of fruity cocktails as well as affordable ice cold beer. It's a good place to meet other travelers and chat, and on weekends, selected weekdays and full moon nights there is live music and an all-you-can-eat beach BBQ and buffet (Fridays).
- 7 [dode link]Rumbas Sports Bar & Restaurant, D' Mall Plaza. An English-style pub that attracts a friendly crowd. The menu is pretty good too, especially the sirloin steaks, pies and other English-style dishes. Enjoy curry, fish and chips and sausage sandwiches while watching live sports on big screens. Mains ₱350-450.
- 8 Shantal's Resto Bar, Station 3 at the pathway to Dave's Straw Hat Inn, Morenos, and Escurel. Revered, family-owned cantina on the beach with great value homemade food. The menu offers a bit of everything and the friendly staff will go out of their way to make you feel right at home. Has a popular Happy Hour from 2PM-8PM, offers one of the best beachside and sunset views on the island, and bumps a non-stop soundtrack of the best in electronic, hip-hop, R&B/soul, and reggae music.
Slaap
Accommodation varies from top-of-the-line hotels and resorts to a simple bed rented from a resident. Whatever your budget, you can easily find a suitable place to stay. During peak periods such as Holy Week, Christmas and New Year, rooms are more difficult to find and more expensive, so book in advance.
Staying along White Beach gets you closer to the bars, lounging and food, while staying closer to Bulabog beach gives you better access to the popular wind and kiteboarding areas.
Boracay is notorious for travel agents (many in Manila) passing themselves off as the resorts, often through websites. When you call them to get a room rate or make a reservation, you will be quoted much more than if you called the resort itself. The travel agents simply take your request, call the hotel and make reservations and charge you extra for the service, up to double the original rate. Meanwhile, the traveler has no idea he wasn't talking to the resort. This can often lead to frustration, as the traveler will show up at his hotel or resort and see he was charged double the rate that the hotel is listing, even though the hotel had nothing to do with it! So the advice is, try your best to ignore the many travel agencies and make your reservation with the resort or hotel directly.
Better yet, don't make advance reservations in the low season. Just go to White Beach or the region you want to stay and negotiate deals with the places you want to stay at. Many street touts will offer to show you the rooms first and then you can negotiate.
If you prefer peace and quiet, avoid accommodation at the center of White Beach, as this is the most crowded area. Head further north or south instead. The area south of Stations 1 & 3 has a more relaxed and peaceful vibe - no pounding disco till 4AM. Accommodation is more reasonably priced, and there are some friendly little bars and restaurants where you can meet people and chat. North of Station 1 you'll find many of the more luxurious (and expensive) establishments. The beach is at its widest here, and the area is usually relatively peaceful.

Amidst the vast complex of station 3 accommodations tucked behind the pathway next to Arwana's cafe, this is a friendly Filipino-owned establishment. Spacious, private rooms with fan, Hot and cold shower, cable TV, kitchenette, fridge, and unlimited free Wifi close to the beach access. All rooms have a nice balcony to lounge out and laze on; the fan-only huts also each have a nice hammock out front. Rooms are priced according to season; either peak or off-peak. van ₱800.
- Little Corner of Italy (Da Mario's), Station 3 (Just across Red Pirates Bar). Better known as "Da Mario's" as it is owned and run by an Italian businessman. The hotel offers budget common rooms which can be shared by a maximum of 4 persons which have a fan and common shower and toilet, while rooms with bungalows are slightly expensive and can be shared by a minimum of 2 persons and a maximum of 4 persons. Rooms are priced according to stay and per person. If you don't plan to sleep there, consider trying their lasagna. van ₱300 pp.
- Moreno's Place. Run by a different owner of the same family as Escurel's, one will find similar accommodations and friendliness here. Prices are roughly similar to Escurel better publicized (read: Lonely Planet listed) accommodations. It's a 15-second walk to the beach.
- 2 Dive Gurus Boracay Beach Resort, Angol Station 3 (Southern part of white Beach.), ☏ 63 36 288 3809. Dormitory (sleeps 1-2 people in bunk beds) ₱200/₱250/₱300 for low season/mid season/high season.
- 3 Treffpunkt, Station 3 (along the same pathway to Dave's Straw Hat Inn, Morenos, and Escurel). One of the best budget options on the island. Clean, simple, quiet rooms with television, A/C, private bathroom and shower, and patio. There is also a boarding house upstairs, a general store, a treehouse kitchen, and the cheapest breakfast and sandwiches in Boracay. Friendly, accommodating staff. Rates range from ₱500 a night.
- Villa Romero Boracay, Station 3, Manoc Manoc, ☏ 63 36 288 4421. Villa Romero Boracay is a 26-room hotel located just a few steps from the front beach of Boracay Island. The hotel also has a restaurant, guest lounge, coffee shop and a convenience store. It is far from the hustle and bustle of central Boracay but at the same time, close to the beachfront bars, souvenir shops, the market, restaurants, and dive shops. Van ₱600.

Bulabog Beach
Bulabog Beach runs parallel with White Beach and is on the east side of the island. It is approximately 1.5 km (0.93 mi) long and has white sand similar to that on White Beach. It is protected from strong seas by a coral reef located 500 m (1,600 ft) offshore, and from late October to April the amihan (northeast monsoon winds) makes this beach very popular with windsurfers and kiteboarders. Bulabog Beach has the "old" Boracay atmosphere, being less developed than the White Beach area, quieter, more laid back, with onshore breezes most of the year, and a number of foreign residents have made it their home. In addition, resorts are starting to appear and the various types of water-sports (parasailing, banana boats, jetskis, waterskiing, etc.) are using this area during the White Beach off-season (May-October, when the habagat or the southwest monsoon wind blows). Access to D'Mall is only a 5 minute walk and a couple of minutes later you are on White Beach with all the crowds, restaurants, bars, discos, etc.
Water on Bulabog is much polluted with sewage water of the whole island. You can see few pipes and "rivers" are emptying to sea. Since the lagoon is semi-closed and shallow, and water circulation is limited, you can feel the smell from the water. The color of it will block all your thoughts about swimming there and lot of kiters will simply not allow you to. If you plan to spend your time lying on the beach, swimming and getting a tan, Bulabog is certanly not the best choice.

Blijf Veilig
Sewage water pollution is one of the biggest problems of Boracay: lots of sewage pipes can be seen pouring water-carried waste directly into the sea. Some areas, like Bulabog beach, has been made completely unswimmable due to this problem. Other areas suffered less. However, it puts swimming safety of the entire island under the serious threat.
Power outages still happen pretty often (2016) and can last from several minutes to several hours. On a bright side however, substantial part of more expensive resorts have back-up generators which solve the problem almost entirely.
Aansluiten
Internet connections are pretty slow anywhere on the island. Wi-Fi can be found everywhere from splurge hotels to small guesthouses but again it's pretty crappy. Small Internet cafes exist but not widespread.
3G/4G is provided by mobile operators Smart and Globe.
Omgaan met

Tips:
- Paperwork submission and payment cut off time is 3PM, so get there at least an hour before that.
- Hold on to the paper receipt you are given - if you lose it, there is a ₱500 fine.
- Pickup on date given after 3PM-5PM or up to 5 days after (anytime). After that, there is a ₱200 passport hold fee per day.
- If you stay in the Philippines more than 6 months, you must get clearance to fly out.
- It takes 10 working days to get it - for free, or 3 days processing for ₱500, or 1 day processing (actually 5 minutes) for ₱1000.
- Clearance is valid for 30 days but not exceeding last visa date (clearance is 1 month maximum if visa ends in 1 month from now).
- You cannot get clearance when doing extension - only one transaction at a time (as you need submit a copy of your last visa extension & your passport, but in this office essentially you can get both done in 30 min if you pay extra).
- You will need 3 photos - 2x2 inches - which can be done in marketing agency upstairs for ₱75 pesos - includes DSLR shot and print of 8 photos. You also need copy front back of your ACR card. Copies can be done upstairs at ₱5 each.
